  • Offline sales trump purely digital sales in Asia Pacific

    Digital Marketing News; http://webcertain.tv Research in the Asia Pacific region has shown that web-influenced offline sales are expected to grow quicker than purely digital sales. Forrester Research, the firm behind the study, forecast that by 2020 up to 30% of all retail sales in the region will be made on the high-street, but stimulated by online activity. The results show that whilst in 2015 digital sales accounted for 13% of all retail sales, by 2020 that figure will rise to 21%. However, over the same time period, web-influenced offline sales are expected to rise much faster, from 19% to 29%. Similarly, eMarketer has also said that it estimates that this year, 12.1% of offline sales in Asia-Pacific will come as a result of online activity, more than anywhere else on earth.

The Asia Pacific Institute for the Digital Economy (APIDE) is a new think tank that seeks to mobilize the academic expertise and institutional resources of 45 major research universities in the region in cooperation with the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) to promote new Internet-based technologies and policies that are vital to the future growth of the Digital Economy. We believe that the next 25 years of the Internet’s growth and development will largely be centered in the Asia-Pacific region. APIDE is committed to ensuring that the values and spirit of collaboration that infused the work of the “pioneers” of the Internet are not lost but instead deepened and expanded as we work together with our colleagues in Asia to further realize the potential of the Internet to transform our economies and societies and ultimately to enrich our individual lives.
